In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement prevails.

Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire on Canvey Island, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although restrictions may apply based on the type of vehicle, with extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category and held for a minimum period as stated in the Rental Agreement, is required. Renters must also present valid identification, proof of current address, and provide payment details along with a security deposit. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Canvey Island office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon picking up your vehicle. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure transactions handled by trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document this. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You will be accountable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, off-roading, or any actions that may pose a risk. Transporting hazardous materials or allowing unauthorized individuals to operate the vehicle is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it was not intended for, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the designated geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Canvey Island is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
